8th Grade 3-D Art & DesignThis semester elective is based on visual problem solving in a 3-Dimensional format. During the first nine weeks, assignments are designed so students learn several ways to work with clay by hand and on the pottery wheel. Sculptural styles & 3-D design will be the focus during the second half of the semester. Students will be challenged with assignments that will allow them to explore new art mediums such as: metal, carving foam, wire, plaster wrap, wood, etc. Assignment criteria will emphasize skill development in the following areas: value, color, line, texture, space, proportion, movement, repetition, pattern, balance, and composition. In addition to meeting the stated criteria, students are required to write personal artist’s statements and complete self-evaluations about their artwork.
